Celebrating 40 Years of Unity: The BCMC Fellowship Legacy
For four decades, the BCMC Fellowship has stood as a cornerstone of faith, heritage, and unity for the Malayalee Christian community. Founded forty years ago by a visionary group of pioneers, our fellowship was born out of a shared need for spiritual connection in a new land. In those early days, before the establishment of individual denominational buildings or separate congregations, these families came together across denominational lines to create a spiritual home away from home.
Our Foundations: A Spirit of Ecumenical Pioneering
The BCMC Fellowship was the original “gathering place” for Malayalee Christians from various traditions—including Mar Thoma, Orthodox, Jacobite, Knanaya, CSI, and others. We served as a vital bridge, providing a space for organized worship and cultural preservation when no other such infrastructure existed. By prioritizing our shared identity in Christ over denominational differences, these pioneers laid the groundwork for the thriving religious landscape we see today.
A Catalyst for Growth
While this fellowship paved the way for the eventual formation of organized denominational churches and the construction of dedicated church buildings, its mission did not end there. Instead of dissolving as individual churches grew, the BCMC Fellowship evolved. We remain an active and essential common gathering place—a “neutral ground” where the bonds of fellowship transcend specific church walls.
Looking Ahead: The Next Chapter
As we celebrate this 40-year milestone, the BCMC Fellowship continues to foster stronger ties among the diaspora. We are more than just a historical group; we are a living testament to the power of ecumenical unity. Whether you were part of our founding families or are new to the community, we invite you to join us as we continue to celebrate our shared roots and a future built on faith, love, and togetherness.
